Standard or non-marking? Start here.

Before size or tread, there's one question that decides everything for a mini excavator: where do you work?

Non-marking tracks (light grey or white rubber) are the right call if your machine ever touches finished surfaces — driveways, sidewalks, stamped concrete, patios, interlock, tile, or customers' lawns. Standard black rubber can leave dark scuff marks that are a headache to clean off; non-marking tracks won't. If you do landscaping, hardscaping, or any residential and interior work, choose non-marking.

Standard black tracks are the workhorse for rougher ground — excavation, site prep, trenching, demolition, acreage. They're tough, they're the most economical, and marking simply doesn't matter out in the dirt.

Same fit, same durability, same warranty — the only difference is whether the surface underneath needs protecting. Every model in the table below is available in both, so pick the one that matches your work.

Rule of thumb: on someone's property → non-marking. On a dig site → standard black.

  • MA Profile - stability on hard & uneven ground

A tighter, stability-focused tread that keeps smaller machines planted on hard-packed, rocky or uneven surfaces - exactly where a light excavator can feel tippy when the boom swings out. Best for compact minis in the E20–E35 class.

  • MB Profile - deep-lug grip for soft & mixed terrain

A deeper, more aggressive lug that digs into mud, loose soil and backfilled ground and adds flotation on soft sites. The right choice for heavier machines and mixed conditions - think E42 through E88.

Find your size & tread

Find your size & tread

Every Bobcat excavator runs a specific track size, written as width × pitch × links (for example, 300 × 52.5 × 84). Find your model below for the size, the tread profiles that fit, and whether non-marking is available — then shop your exact match.

Not sure of your size? The stamp on your current track has it — see How to read your track size just below.

How to read your Bobcat excavator track size

You don't need the spec sheet — your current track already carries its size. Here's how to read it:

  1. Find the stamp on the inside face of the track: three numbers like 300x52.5x84.
  2. They're always width × pitch × links:
  • Width (300) — track width in millimetres.
  • Pitch (52.5) — spacing between links in millimetres. On excavator tracks this is often a decimal (52.5, 54.5, 72.5) — that's normal, and it matters, so copy it exactly.
  • Links (84) — the number of links around the track. Count them if the stamp is worn.
  1. Still unsure? Send us your machine model and serial number and we'll confirm the exact size — including the right pitch — before you order.

Getting the pitch and link count right is what guarantees the track seats properly on your sprocket and idler without slipping or throwing.

Signs your tracks are due for replacement

Excavator tracks take a different kind of abuse than loader tracks — they flex under the machine's weight as the cab rotates and the boom loads them up. Watch for:

  • Cuts, gouges or embedded debris — rebar, glass and sharp rock slice rubber over time
  • Exposed steel cords showing through the rubber — replace now before the track lets go
  • Cracking or dry rot, especially at the base of the lugs
  • Worn or rounded guide lugs on the inside — the leading cause of a track detracking mid-slew
  • The track slips off or "throws" during turns or on slopes — a safety issue, not just a nuisance
  • Chunked or flattened tread — lost grip and flotation on soft ground

Running past these risks damaging your rollers, idlers and sprocket — so when you're replacing tracks, it's worth a quick look at the whole undercarriage.

Lifespan, repairs & cost

How long do they last? A quality rubber track on a mini excavator typically runs 1,500–2,000+ hours, depending on the ground you work, how tight the tracks are kept, and how often the machine slews under load. Correct tension and softer surfaces stretch that out; abrasive rock and hard turns shorten it.

Can a rubber track be repaired? Small surface cuts aren't usually a problem, but once you see exposed steel cords, chunked lugs, or a track that detracks, a patch won't hold — replacement is the safe and cost-effective fix. Trying to nurse a failing track along usually ends with undercarriage damage that costs far more.

What do they cost? Mini excavator tracks generally run from a few hundred dollars on the smallest machines up to the higher hundreds for larger E-series units, with non-marking a small step up from standard. Every price is on the product page — factory-direct, with free shipping across Canada and no dealer markup.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use rubber or steel tracks on my mini excavator?

For the work most compact excavators do - digging, landscaping, utility and site work - rubber is the better choice: smoother, quieter, road- and pavement-friendly, and easier on the operator. Steel is only worth it in extreme abrasion or demolition. Your Bobcat almost certainly came on rubber, and rubber is what fits this page.

What's the difference between standard and non-marking tracks?

Standard tracks are black rubber and the most economical - ideal for dirt, excavation and demolition. Non-marking tracks are light-coloured rubber that won't scuff finished surfaces like driveways, patios or interior floors. Same fit, size and warranty - choose non-marking for any work on finished ground.

Can rubber excavator tracks be repaired?

Minor surface cuts are usually fine to keep running. But once steel cords are exposed, lugs are chunking, or the track is detracking, repair won't hold - replacement is the safe, economical fix and protects your undercarriage.

How long do rubber tracks last on a mini excavator?

Typically 1,500–2,000+ hours, depending on terrain, track tension, and how hard the machine works. Keeping tracks properly tensioned and avoiding unnecessary hard turns extends their life.

What size tracks does my Bobcat excavator need?

Each model has a specific size written as width × pitch × links (e.g. 300 × 52.5 × 84). Check the stamp on your current track or find your model in the size table above. On excavator tracks the pitch is often a decimal - copy it exactly, or send us your model and serial and we'll confirm.

Which tread should I choose?

MA for stability on hard, rocky or uneven ground (smaller minis); MB for deep-lug grip and flotation on soft or mixed terrain (larger machines). Both come in standard and non-marking.

Are aftermarket tracks as good as OEM Bobcat tracks?

Ours are built to OEM fit and spec with forged steel cores and continuous steel-cord reinforcement, and backed by a 24-month warranty - comparable performance and fit, without the dealer price.

Do you ship to my part of Canada?

Yes - free shipping to every major city and shipping-depot location across Canada.

What's covered by the warranty?

A 24-month NOVA warranty: 12 months full coverage, 12 months pro-rated.
